Dolunay Apartments

For a relaxing holiday centred around the beach, the Dolunay Apartments are tough to beat. The sands are just across the road, plus you're within walking distance of Altinkum. There's a pool, bar and patisserie on-site, too.

The Dolunay Apartments are in a great location – they’re right across the road from a sandy beach. Plus, they’re on the outskirts of Altinkum, so you can walk into the village in about ten minutes. Ephesus is also an easy daytrip – it’s about an hour’s drive away.

The apartments themselves are in two-storey buildings set in landscaped gardens. They come with basics like cooking rings and a fridge, and linen’s supplied, too. Some apartments even have sea-view balconies.

Outside, there’s a grand, rectangular pool with a children’s paddling area alongside it. There’s a snack bar out here, too, and even a patisserie.

On the subject of food, the hotel lays on a free bus to the Dolunay restaurant. It’s in Altinkum, and as a guest at the apartments you’ll get a discount. As for after-dinner entertainment, there’s a nightclub across the road from the apartments and an open-air disco about a two-minute walk away.

Amazing holiday and hotel!

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Dolunay for 2 weeks from the 9/07/15 to the 23/07/15. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment with a sea view which has everything you need! It has a living area, fridge, kitchen area which has plenty facilities for self catering, bathroom with a shower and a bedroom with fitted wardrobes. The one bedroomed apartments have two single beds but are easy to push together for couples staying there; you also have your own balcony which has a table and chairs and a washing line with pegs if you wish to do any washing or for you to hang out wet swimming costumes and towels. Air con is available for around £6 a day (that is what we paid) and is reliable; there are safe deposit boxes available at reception for £1 a day. Wifi is free at the pool area the small pub area (this internet is usually reliable however can be slow when there are a lot of people trying to use it). There are plenty sun beds around the pool area so no need to get up at a ridiculous time to put your towel on a sun bed. The rooms are cleaned daily by the cleaners which means the apartments are always spotless and the staff couldn't do more to help. The only issue we had was the nightclubs opposite can be a tiny bit noisy but Thomson made us aware of this when we booked the holiday. The rep James was also really helpful: you are invited to a welcome meeting in which he tells you about the local area and the excursions Thomson have available for you (which are amazingly planned and are well worth doing). They often have deals on these excursions. James also makes an effort to come round the pool area to chat to guests which is a nice touch and vows to solve any problems you have within 24 hours. The hotel has a great location in Altinkum. It is around a 5 minute walk to the sea front where all the bars and restaurants are and you will also find shops here too. The food at the hotel is also really good and very cheap to buy. Overall we had an amazing holiday and would definitely return to the Dolunay!More

Fantastic holiday

We travelled as a group of 4 teenagers for a fortnight away at Dolunay and had an absolutely fantastic holiday. The hotel has a great location - less than a 5 minute walk to town where there were loads of restaurants, shops and bars. The pool was brilliant - a good size and never too busy (we often got up past midday and were still able to get 4 sunloungers together). The one downside was that the pool shut at 7pm which we felt was a bit too early. We ate at the poolbar for a fair few of our lunches and the food was great and very reasonably priced - would recommend. We had a 2 bedroom apartment which was very spacious and a very good size for 4 of us. We paid for air conditioning but there is only an AC unit in the main bedroom and we found that the second bedroom stayed far too hot to sleep in so moved the mattresses into the room with AC and all 4 of us slept in there for the holiday. The apartment is billed as a self-catering apartment but if you arrive intending to self-cater every meal you will struggle - there is a large fridge and 2 hobs, but that is about it. We ate out most nights anyway, and the nights that we didn't we just had pasta so it wasn't a problem for us. We had a ground floor room which was ideal because the balcony always remained in the shade - great because temperatures reached 39 degrees while we were away. The staff at Dolunay really helped make our trip - Sam, Josh and Yaya in particular. They are so friendly and go out of their way to help you, and we really felt that we got to know them in the time we were at Dolunay. James, our Thomson rep, was also great and really engaged with us about what trips we wanted to do and always came over for a chat when he was at Dolunay. The nightlife in Altinkum was pretty good. We headed to Dolphin Square and particularly enjoyed Swann and Ege bar, both of which have friendly waiters, cheap drinks and good music. We went to 2 out of the 3 open air clubs opposite the apartments, Medusa and Poseidon. Both were good, though Medusa was far more expensive. Overall, we had a really fantastic time at Dolunay and would highly recommend to anyone thinking of going there - it was extremely good value for money and was perfect for what we wanted.More

Fantastic family friendly hotel

A fantastic hotel on the main street into Altinkum. The hotel is family run and has a lovely friendly feel. The apartments have 2 bedrooms with a good size lounge, which is great for 4 people; there is no sleeping on a pull out bed in the kitchen. The pool is fantastic with plenty of sun loungers for everyone - no early start to book your place. The bar staff and management are amazingly friendly; if you are not a swimmer you will be by the end of the first day. You can walk into the main waterfront area in under 5 minutes. The restaurants in the area are all very friendly and great food with minimum hassle. Shopping for "Original Fakes" is relatively relaxed and there are some great deals to be had. The food and drinks at the hotel bar are all incredibly well priced and to a good standard. I stayed here for a thoroughly enjoyable week with children (12) and parents. Highly recommended.More

Had a 2 week stay here and enjoyed every minute. The apartments are huge. Massive balcony double and twin bedroom. Air con is in main bedroom only. Big fridge big living room. There is no toaster as is usual for turkey. This wasnt a problem as i Had no intention of cooking what so ever. Top floor apartments get constant sun, ground floor rooms are in constant shade. The pool IS the best in altinkum!!! The pools in other hotels etc are pathetic! 3ft wide by 10ft deep. These apartments are located on a Busyish road so there is traffic noise etc whilst led by the pool. The location is perfect. Everything right on your doorstep. There are 3 very noisy nightclubs opposite so if your a light sleeper etc this will cause you problems. I wear ear plugs anyway plus the bedroom is at the back of the apartment so we slept with no problems. All staff are friendly and helpful. The gardens are beautiful. All guests were british. Plenty of sun loungers. The pool is open to non residents so whether getting a sunbed is tricky in peak months i dont know. Bar serves lovely food although the menu could be better. Music around the pool is repetitive and drove us mad!! All in all we had a lovely stay and we highly recommend these apartments. We will defo be returning.More
